Our West Country Cheese selection takes the hard work out of creating the perfect cheese board!
Simple, but perfectly formed, our Westcountry cheese selection will contain a generous amount of each of the following cheese:
-
Westcombe Mature Cheddar - Westcombe Cheddar has a deep complex flavour with a mellow lactic tang and long notes of citrus, hazelnut and caramel. The texture is structured and firm, with a smooth breakdown that keeps the flavours lingering on your palate. This cheese is often called a 'five mile Cheddar', as you’re still tasting it five miles down the road!
-
Somerset Brie - A fine 60% mould ripened brie produced by Lubborn Cheese at Cricket St Thomas in Somerset. It is creamy with a mild, fresh flavour and a soft edible rind. The curd is even textured and takes on the colour of straw. As it ripens, over a period of seven weeks, from the outside in, it becomes softer with a fuller flavour. In 2002 it won a number of medals at the British Cheese Awards including gold for best soft cheese.
-
Gorwydd Caerphilly - The Gorwydd Caerphilly is usually matured for a minimum of two months to give a wonderfully deep flavour that is yet still fresh and clean tasting with slight citrus notes, combined with a surprisingly creamy, moist texture. This excellent cheese has deservedly won a number of prestigious cheese awards.
-
Bath Blue - A classic blue veined cheese made from organic cow's milk. Ripened in traditional stone built rooms for 8 to 10 weeks to give it a creamy blue veined taste.
Small selection - contains 250g of each cheese (serves 4-6)
Large selection - contains 500g of each cheese (serves 8-12)
